15 October 2012 - Cotton prices plunged on last Thursday, after US Department of Agriculture predicted higher record stocks than expected. 5 September 2012 - Polyester fiber prices are no more rising in China, although raw material costs continue increasing. Our weekly report covers Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) and Polyester Filament Yarn (PFY) prices on the domestic market, including a price comparison with cotton and viscose. 20 July 2011 - Cotton prices dramatically fell in the last weeks in China, India and Pakistan. Spinners did not similarly react to the drop in prices. Profit margins have been more preserved in Pakistan than in China and India, as reflected by our series of historical data, back four years ago.
28 June 2012 - Polyester prices more sharply fell in the last month and the first part of June in China, offering Chinese spinners an opportunity to lower their prices. India and Pakistan did not entirely follow the same trend. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency and US$ terms. Spun polyester yarn prices are also compared, such as margins of spinners in the three countries. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.
3 August 2010 - Bangladesh is currently experiencing a decisive social crisis with violent riots interrupting apparel production. This will result in a sharp increase in production costs in a country where exporters took advantage of very low prices in the past years, as reflected by our statistical tables.
