19 November 2001 - The US House of Representatives last Friday approved a bill allowing duty-free and quota-free entry of apparel from Andean countries. The bill also raises caps on duty-free apparel imports from Central American and Sub-Saharan Africa.
31 August 2001 - The US administration officially announced today it will allow duty-free imports of apparel from Botswana. According to the office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), Botswana implemented an effective visa system allowing to limit illegal transshipments of products from other countries, a condition for benefiting from preferential treatment granted by the new US law, the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
