7 October 2011 - Cambodian apparel exports soared over the first part of the year, in volume and value terms. The rise in clothing prices remained relatively moderate, after wages stayed at very low levels in the impoverished country. Cambodia therefore gained additional shares of US and EU import markets, as reflected by our series of statistical tables, displaying average unit prices per product categories.
27 May 2011 - Cambodia's apparel exports surged in the first quarter this year, and could similarly jumping over the full year. Demand sharply increased from buyers looking for cheaper destination than China. The change in EU rules of origin also offers a duty-free access to Cambodian clothing, therefore boosting European demand.
27 October 2010 - Cambodia's apparel exports finally recovered this year with a surge in shipments to the US market being observed in the second quarter. A series of strikes however threatened disrupting production and deliveries and may limit the level in orders from foreign buyers in the coming period while raising labor costs in the country.
5 January 2010 - The full implementation of the China-Asean free trade area effective from January 1st is a decisive step toward establishing an Asian textile-clothing integration. China is expected developing textile and clothing exports to South East Asia while also importing more textile products from the region. Chinese investment in Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar will also be boosted by the agreement.
