Unit prices have increased everywhere in dollar terms, declining in euro terms with however sharp differences depending on product categories and origins. A few low-cost countries have taken advantage of a double-digit increase of their shipments in many product categories, in volume terms, thanks to the sharp fall of unit values in euro terms, as reflected by our comprehensive review of EU's clothing imports per origin and HS 4-digit category with volume, value and unit price changes. 6 December 2017 - Unit prices of European clothing imports have less risen in dollar terms in the third quarter from a few origins, including Bangladesh, partly due to currency variations. As a result, shipments have rebounded to the European Union whereas China's exports were slowing down by contrast. As usual, results are very different, depending on product categories and origins. As usual, exports have been supported by a fall of unit prices due to productivity gains and a shift to lower-cost products. 13 March 2017 - Average unit prices of shipments to the European Union have significantly declined in both euro and US$ terms in full 2016. Chinese unit values have more sharply dropped than average in most product categories, without boosting exports to the EU, whereas Bangladesh has continued improving its market shares. Other leading suppliers have also cut their unit values in the last year. As usual, the market trends are rather different depending on product categories and origins.
