EU Clothing Imports in 3rd Quarter and January-September 2018: Origins (Statistical Report)

21 November 2018 - China's share of the European Union's clothing imports has sharply dropped in the third quarter of the year in volume terms, as Chinese unit prices were further soaring. Bangladesh has continued taking advantage of China's setback whereas the surge in shipments from Myanmar or Cambodia has followed the relocation of Chinese apparel industry to low-cost countries in Asia. 30 August 2018 - Chinese shipments to EU's clothing market have dramatically fallen in the second quarter this year, whereas imports from Bangladesh were again surging and therefore taking the lead in volume terms. Unit prices have dropped in euro terms, however significantly rising in US$ terms which could limit the recovery of the European market in the coming months.
