21 February 2017 - Cotton yarn import prices have begun dropping in the last days, reflecting a lack of demand from Chinese processors and lower cotton prices on the international market. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. 20 February 2017 - Polyester intermediate prices are now expected dropping, in line with a rise in available quantities and higher downward inventories at polyester plants. The PTA production level is also expected significantly rising later this year in Asia. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. 20 February 2017 - Cotton futures have suddenly plunged on last Friday in New York which could announce a major market contraction when US interest rates will be further raised by the Fed later this year, possibly triggering a new jump of the US dollar. 17 February 2017 - US apparel import from China have declined in volume terms in 2016 although unit prices have sharply dropped with different trends being however observed depending on apparel categories, as reflected by our tables. The share of other nations has increased in volume and value terms, as a clear sign that US buyers have diversified their supply sources. This is reflected by our statistical review comparing US apparel imports from China with shipments from Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value and unit value terms. Historical data are available for the past five years, 2011-2016.
17 February 2017 - Nylon 6 prices are further surging in Asia, being boosted by higher material costs. Benzene and caprolactam prices have also sharply increased in the past three months, in line with tight supply and strong demand.
