6 September 2010 - Cotton prices again surged in the last week in New York with the A Index nearly reaching US$1 on the physical market. A sharp consolidation is however looming. Prices may now recede before sharply rebounding in the second part of the season, after India decided setting an annual cap on its cotton exports.
6 Septembre 2010 - Cotton yarn prices were raised in the past weeks in Pakistan, due to a fall in offer after heavy rain and floods affected production and transports. Export restrictions may be imposed later in the season if necessary, our Pakistan Correspondent reports.
7 September 2010 - Polyester prices remained unchanged in the past days in China, with sellers still waiting for a rebound in demand from the domestic textile industry. New capacities are being commissioned which could limit any rise in staple fiber prices.
3 September 2010 - The US and EU officials are working on a possible reduction in textile tariffs imposed on Pakistani shipments, as requested by Islamabad after worst-ever flood devastated the country. The European Union could decide to cut import duties on a number of tariff lines while Washington may further push a bill which was already passed by the House in the last year.
2 September 2010 - Although increasingly under control, inflation pressure remains relatively high in a series of Asian countries like Vietnam and India. In Pakistan, recent floods may result in higher inflation rates in the coming period. If prices are apparently under control in China, there are rising doubts about official data.
