6 Septembre 2010 - Cotton yarn prices were raised in the past weeks in Pakistan, due to a fall in offer after heavy rain and floods affected production and transports. Export restrictions may be imposed later in the season if necessary, our Pakistan Correspondent reports.
3 September 2010 - The US and EU officials are working on a possible reduction in textile tariffs imposed on Pakistani shipments, as requested by Islamabad after worst-ever flood devastated the country. The European Union could decide to cut import duties on a number of tariff lines while Washington may further push a bill which was already passed by the House in the last year.
1 September 2010 - Viscose prices are remaining very stable in Pakistan where yarn prices are being boosted by the floods. A lack of transport and electricity is curbing production at spinning mills, with prices therefore rising, our Correspondent reports.
31 August 2010 - Polyester yarn prices did not move in the past weeks in Pakistan, while the textile production was deeply affected by devastating floods, our Correspondent reports. The situation is however improving, although still far from normal.
17 August 2010 - Textile and clothing exports began rebounding from Pakistan in the last fiscal year, as reflected by just released official data. A lack of cotton fibers and cotton yarns however limited production of cotton fabrics and bed linen while raw material costs soared. Current flood may also dramatically affect cotton and textile production in the new fiscal year, our Pakistan Correspondent reports.
