9 November 2018 - Sri Lanka's apparel exports have recovered in the first months of the year, mostly due to a surge in sales to continental Europe, whereas shipments to the U.K. and the United States have however fallen. After Cambodia and Myanmar, Sri Lanka is now threatened by EU's Commission to lose its duty-free access if the current political crisis results in a deterioration of human rights in the country. 24 July 2018 - Sri Lanka's apparel exports are clearly recovering this year, thanks to the rebound of the European market and the return of the GSP-Plus treatment offering a duty-free access to E.U.'s territory. Exports to the United States have sharply dropped in the first quarter by contrast, with a possible recovery experienced in the last months, nevertheless. The country remains confronted with relatively high labor costs and a lack of skilled workers in the apparel industry.
