27 November 2018 - US apparel imports have very differently moved in the first three quarters of the year, depending on origins and product categories. China remains by far the leading supplier of the US market whereas rival countries have not been able to radically reduce its share in 2018. A surge of tariffs as part of the US-China trade war would of course radically change the picture. 14 September 2018 - US apparel imports have stagnated in the first half overall with this average result hiding sharp differences depending on product categories and origins. Suppliers are obviously finding it difficult to further lower their prices with US demand slowing down in volume terms, as a consequence. If China's share is receding, results are very contrasted amid categories whereas other countries like Indonesia are retreating on most segments. 1 March 2018 - China has again been able to lower its unit prices in full last year and to relatively preserve its share of the US apparel import market, as a result. Unit values of other origins have also dropped, including from Bangladesh or Cambodia with results widely different depending on product categories, as usual. 21 November 2017 - Unit prices of US apparel imports have continued dropping in the first three quarters this year, with however sharp differences depending on product categories and origins. The average export price has for instance more declined in China than in most other countries. US buyers have also been able to cut the prices of products from many other origins, although less dramatically.
