Thailand's Apparel Exports Depressed by Strong Baht (Country Report)

23 January 2008 - Thailand's apparel exports started declining in 2007 mainly due to a strong increase in the baht against both the US dollar and the Euro. Exporters try boosting sales to other markets but are still extremely dependent on the American and European buyers. The political situation is back to normal, however, while a free trade agreement with Japan may offer new prospects.
