21 May 2019 - EU's clothing imports are no more rising in volume terms amid a sharp fall of Chinese shipments. Unit value have surged in March in euro terms although stable in US$ terms. Imports from Bangladesh have continued sharply increasing, reflecting the current shift in European buying from China to the low-income country. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs woven clothing. 21 May 2019 - Goose down prices have continued surging in the first months of 2019 while duck down prices were stabilizing. Seasonal demand is depressed with long-term trends however favoring sales, especially on the higher end of the market. Production is expected recovering after being curbed by new environmental regulations affecting factories but also farmers. China Textile & Clothing Production Costs (Country Report)

20 May 2019 - Textile production prices have risen at a lower pace in April in China, by contrast with a slight rise for the overall economy. Textile producers are confronted with a sharp fall of apparel exports whereas clothing retail sales have begun even declining in the past month, after having experienced a double-digit growth for years. Textile material prices can be expected falling in the coming months, as a result. Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

20 May 2019 - Polyester chain prices have begun falling across the board in the last week in Asia, as PTA and PSF prices were eventually plunging on spot markets. Although margins have remained at high levels, operating rates could be lowered at PTA and polyester plants, as demand has sharply declined from downward textile producers expecting lower prices in the coming period. The rebound of global cotton production expected for the coming season is also pressuring prices on international but also on the domestic markets.
